About the Award. The Celebrity with a Big Heart award was created by USA International Fashion Shows founder Andres Aquino to recognize accomplished persons in the fields of fashion and the arts who also support a charity cause associated with the well-being of needy children. Celebrity with a Big Heart proposes to raise funds for specific projects in towns and villages around the world. The private initiative depends solely on individual and corporate sponsorship, is not limited by race, sex, or religious affiliation and is not under any government or political umbrella. From an early age, Mauricio Amuy has found personal satisfaction in helping unfortunate children. He supports several charities in Latin America including Proyecto San Francisco de Asis in his native Costa Rica, and Children of Refugees. Mauricio Amuy is the star of new film titled Apocalypto directed by Mel Gibson due for release Summer 2006. Mauricio’s numerous modeling and acting credits include many runway fashion shows ranging from Levis Jeans to Yves St. Laurent and the Helen Yarmak couture collection. He has appeared on a Times Square billboard as well as in national ad campaigns for Macy’s and Wal-Mart. He has been featured in such magazines as Teleguia (Costa Rica), Metropolis (Japan) and Vogue (Germany). His acting credits include film, video and TV roles in Spider-Man II, Juwanna Mann, Sex in The City, Guiding Light and many others. He is depicted as the Michael The Arc Angel by surrealist artist Angelo Rusciano on one of the cover of Mary J. Blige’s CD. |
