Susi Hammer Brings Harmonious and Original Creations to Couture Fashion Week New York
Argentinean designer Susi Hammer will make her USA debut at New York’s Couture Fashion Week on Sunday, February 14, 2010. The fashion show will be held at 5:00 p.m. in the legendary Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria on Park Avenue, New York City.
Susi Hammer is noted for her striking designs bringing together fresh and colorful silk shantung, linen, burlap and rubber in singular harmony.
A Hungarian-speaking Romanian, Susi Hammer arrived in Argentina as a child with her family. She attended university in Buenos Aires, obtaining her degree in psychology, later going on to specialize in psychoanalysis. Dr. Hammer worked full time in her field until 2001, when she discovered, almost by chance, her inspiration as a fashion designer and the immense pleasure that it gives her.
She has participated for a number of years in Puro Diseno, an annual fashion and design event in Buenos Aires. She has also shown her work in art galleries, design and fashion stores as well as in her own fashion shows. In 2006, Susi Hammer opened her signature boutique in Palermo, a central area of Buenos Aires where, in addition to her clothing designs, she carries her own line of hats and shoes.
In early 2009, Dr. Hammer launched a project that showcases visual artists in her store's window display generating great interest from the public and providing a place in which art and fashion complement each other.
Susi Hammer's work as a psychoanalyst has been reduced, but not her overall interest in it. Presently, she is investigating topics related to the Meaning of Fashion in Culture, a project that allows her to connect her two passions.
Couture Fashion Week is a multi-day event showcasing couture and luxury fashion. It also includes exhibits of luxury brands and fine art as well as world-class entertainment and receptions. The event is held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City and occasionally in other selected cities and is attended by upscale consumers, invited VIPs, the press and high-end store buyers. Couture Fashion Week offers unique branding opportunities for luxury products and services.
