Body Painting Meets Fine Art in an Exciting Multimedia Dance Presentation
(New York City, August 1, 2004) USA International Fashion Shows announces Splendour, a creative journey beyond body painting that combines elements of dance, art, body painting and multimedia art projections. The event had its preview July 3, 2004 in New York City in two venues: Gallery, The Gershwin Hotel and Avalon before enthusiastic audiences. A mélange of fine art photography, dance, body makeup, and stirring music on the catwalk, the shows have generated interest in both the USA and overseas and the positive reception of the preview shows encouraged the producer to further develop the concept and make it an on-going production.
The centerpiece of Splendour is producer Andres Aquino’s own fine art photography creations. Body art painting is to many people a visual artistic expression; to others, body painting relates to traditions and religious beliefs; and to yet others, it is a metaphysical experience. In Splendour, Mr. Aquino uses the art of body painting as a creative form of expression -- not simply a tattoo or a symbol, but a form of fashion on the runway where art meets, and in most cases, replaces fashion with the drama of makeup and body paint. Unlike other body painting shows where the artist demonstrates the actual process, Splendour showcases the finished body art as part of the entire concept of the presentation: the evolution of art from the moment of creation to the present day. Art and dance travel side by side in this journey, elevating body painting a higher artistic ground in a celebration of beauty.
Andres Aquino’s fine art photography has been exhibited in galleries and other venues in Carmel, California; Montreal; New York; Connecticut and Vermont. His art work has been featured in US Art magazine and Art Business News and was covered by the Associated Press in New England. Andres Aquino is also the founder and CEO of USA International Fashion Shows and has an extensive background in theater and communications, fashion marketing, fashion and fine art photography and fashion show production with numerous productions to his credit.
