Celebrity hair stylist Shereese Slate will be heading a talented team of hair artists at the upcoming Couture Fashion Week runway shows in New York City. The fashion shows, which present the latest creations by accomplished designers from around the world, will be held February 9, 10 and 11, 2007 at the world famous Waldorf-Astoria, 301 Park Avenue (between 49th and 50th Streets), New York City. Designers scheduled to show include Jamil Khansa from Lebanon, Gordana Radic from Croatia and Haya Al Houti from Kuwait.
One of the hottest names in the hair industry today, Ms. Slate has pursued a passion for her craft for over 20 years. A native of Detroit, she is now based in Arlington, Texas. As an educator and platform artist she has created new looks for ever-changing fashion trends, nationally and internationally. Her work has graced many music videos, CD jackets, TV programs and films, and she has created beautiful hairstyles for many artists including Ashanti, Pattie Labelle, Rosalyn McMillan, Lisa Page, Foxy Brown and Ciara. Her hair styling has also been seen in numerous publications worldwide including Vibe, Ebony, People, YM, Jet, Interview, Glamour UK, Entertainment Weekly, FHM, Seventeen, Cosmo Girl, Rolling Stone, and Forbes. Her professional affiliations include Motions and TCB Professional Hair Products, Courvoisier, National Women's Sports Foundation, Dillards, American Cancer Society and numerous records labels such as Motown, Atlantic, CGI, Columbia and Epic.
In addition to being a hair stylist, Shereese Slate is also the author of the book 101 Recipes for Romantic Ideas, and is currently at work on three more books. She also is the editor-in-chief of her own national lifestyle hair and beauty publication entitled simply Shereese. She has taught classes all over the world on the importance of image and appearance, hairstyling, haircutting and how to create natural looking hair weaves and extensions.
"Education should be a way of life and part of your everyday living," says Ms. Slate. "If you are to ever be successful at anything you must continue to grow in every area of your life." She has worked with a number of shelters and has done volunteer work to continue to educate, uplift and help her community. She also does workshops for churches and other organizations on enhancing one's inward and outward appearance.
