Se Sens Serene Debuts Unique Collection of Eco-Friendly Designs at Couture Fashion Week New York
The fashion show was held in the legendary Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria on Park Avenue, New York City.
Fashion designer and contemporary artist Saureen J. Desai debuted her first collection entitled “Plastiq World” at Couture Fashion Week in New York City on Sunday, February 14, 2010.

After receiving degrees in Finance and Marketing with further studies in Global Business, Ms. Desai went on to pursue professional training in the field of plastic raw materials. Her commitment to enhance the sustainability of plastic products led her to think outside the box and create the “Se Sens Serene Eco Fashion” product line.
Ms. Desai has combined her knowledge of plastics with her unique style and cultural flare to create a new avenue for fashion. Ms. Desai uses "plastiq", a term she coined to describe the various grades of high-end plastics (monomers and polymers) in the construction of highly innovative and chic fashion designs. Design and fashion have always been part of Ms. Desai's life. Her passion for dance, choreography and costume design play a major role in her fashion design. Her desire to create a “niche” fashion product line led her to develop “plastiq”, products with enhanced sustainability.
“Plastics are what make this world possible," says the designer. "And in order for us to preserve Mother Earth we must make every effort to make plastics even more possible and sustainable than they are today."
Obtaining global accounts through her core business enables Ms. Desai to deal with various types of off-grade plastic products from polymer producers, textile producers, and the automotive industry among others, and also allows her to travel throughout the world to meet with various customers who use an assortment of plastic products for various applications.
“Plastics have been in my blood since I was a child. It defines me. It's who I am…I Am Plastiq,” states Ms. Desai.
