Rabia Yalcin's Dramatic and Elegant Couture Designs To Be Shown in New York
World-renowned Turkish fashion designer Rabia Yalcin will present her latest collection of inspired creations at Couture Fashion Week in New York City. The highly anticipated fashion show will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007 in the Roof Ballroom of the world-famous St. Regis Hotel.
The juxtaposition of Ms. Yalcin’s traditional background and the sensual garments she creates from a mosaic of textiles builds an extraordinary bridge between East and West. Influenced by her native country’s history, Ms. Yalcin's collections are rooted in the opulence of the Ottoman rule, a time in which dress makers dedicated great time and care in creating lavish wardrobes. Her clothes and handmade accessories showcase intricate embroidery and detail, inspired by this rich history, and are interwoven with modern fabric, fit for today’s women.
Understanding the wishes of her longstanding clients, Rabia Yalcin customizes each garment to not only meet the needs of the event, but also to reflect their personalities and spirit. “Fashion should not confine women, but rather nurture their individuality and enhance their unique beauty and spirit. What’s most important to me is that the soul of my customer is reflected in the piece I design,” comments Rabia Yalcin. Truly an artist of fashion, Ms. Yalcin sees the woman’s body as her canvas, fabric as her paint and thread as her brush. Each Rabia Yalcin design is individually inspired by the multitude of emotions and experiences of every woman, an insight echoed in Rabia’s personal motto, “My spirit inside reflects that of many.”
Recognized as a new force in the fashion world, Rabia Yalcin’s work has been featured in worldwide media such as Time Magazine, UK’s BBC, The Chicago Tribune and France’s Paris-Match, in which she was referred to as the “designer of the stars.” Her story is that of a traditional woman with conviction for not only her culture, but her vision of beauty and her talent in fashion design.
In 1996, Ms. Yalcin unveiled her first collection at a private club without ever having seen a runway show. She received high praise for her work, successfully launching her line, Rabia Yalcin Haute Couture. Her elite clientele consists of prominent international figures in politics and the business and entertainment industries and she values these sacred relationships. She develops a close, personal bond with each of her customers and they trust in her talent and creative vision.
"Rabia's creations are elegant and dramatic, and her fashion show is sure to be a real couture treat," says Couture Fashion Week producer Andres Aquino.
