Feminine and Elegant Designs by Prizy Sebastian on the Runway at Couture Fashion Week New York
Designer Prizy Sebastian will make her debut at New York’s Couture Fashion Week on Sunday, February 14, 2010. The fashion show will be held at 5:00 p.m. in the legendary Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria on Park Avenue, New York City.
A graduate of the University of Texas, Prizy Sebastian, began her fashion career designing in the uniform field creating prints for scrubs using licensed characters by Save the Children, Sesame Street, Warner Brothers, and Mary Engelbreit. She worked freelance for a number of years designing for such labels such as Liz Claiborne, Joe Boxer, Lady Ester, Kenneth Cole, and Paris Accessories. Working in so many different areas including menswear, loungewear, children’s wear, prints and even home furnishings, widened her outlook.
Being a dress designer was always Ms. Sebastian's true calling. Finding inspiration in travel, art, nature and the diversity of cultures found in New York City encouraged her to pursue her dreams. Originally a creative outlet, Ms. Sebastian's fashion line soon became about offering beautifully designed original clothing using traditional dressmaking skills and fine fabrics. Details such as subtle pin-tucking, sharp pleats, soft gathers and exquisite color contrasts characterize her designs, giving them a feminine and elegant slant. Always aiming to perfect her skills and strengthen her creative outlook, Prizy Sebastian strives to create timeless fashions using excellent craftsmanship and couture techniques, with great infusions of color. Truly being an individual and consistently promoting beauty in design will always be important.
Recently Ms. Sebastian was a design finalist in the annual international Art for Progress Clash of the Artists competition. She was also a finalist at the Supima Evening Wear Design Competition and recently showed her collection at the premiere of the New York One of a Kind Show. One of her beautiful wedding dresses was featured in the winter 2009 issue of New York Weddings.
Couture Fashion Week is a multi-day event showcasing couture and luxury fashion. It also includes exhibits of luxury brands and fine art as well as world-class entertainment and receptions. The event is held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City and occasionally in other selected cities and is attended by upscale consumers, invited VIPs, the press and high-end store buyers.
