Lavish Couture Collections to Take Center Stage at Fashion Events

Linking New York and Palm Beach

For the Fall 2006 fashion season, the prestigious Couture Fashion Week® runway shows will link the glamour and sophistication of New York City with the upscale luxury of Florida society. Two days of fashion shows in New York will be followed by three exclusive Florida fashion events.

Runway fashion shows scheduled for Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4 will feature renowned couture designers LILY SAMII and LOURDES LIBMAN, as well as famed Madison Avenue furrier DENIMAXX - a favorite with Hollywood celebs - and other designers. The fashion shows on both days are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at Fashion Hall, 502 West 41st Street (at 10th Avenue), New York City.

Accompanying  displays by fine fashion accessories designers and other companies will open for viewing at 6:00 p.m.. on both Friday and Saturday. Among those showing is DS JONES COMPANY, known for their chic, one-of-a-kind evening bags meticulously embellished with iridescent, hand sewn beadwork in unique floral designs - the perfect accent to any couture ensemble. Among the other displays will be stunning jewelry by SOLOMON BROTHERS of Atlanta and MARIAN VON BURCHARD, hats by NINI K and TRACY TOOKER, and original artwork by LYNN ENGSTROM and  BRENDA KRAVITZ. Italian beer giant PERONI will be on hand to quench guests' thirst, while delicious nibbles will be provided by LA PRIMA DONNA.

After parties will follow at G Bar, (NYC's first Geisha Bar), 105 West 27th Street (between 6th & 7th Avenues) on Friday, and at Moda, 135 West 52nd Street (between 6th & 7th Avenues) on Saturday. (Note: schedule is subject to change).

Among the accomplished designers presenting is San Francisco-based LILY SAMII bringing what she calls “effortless, modern pieces.” All are couture level, with the finest workmanship and handcrafted detailing. Ms. Samii’s lighter-than-air yet dramatic Fall 2006 collection includes day-into-evening coats, sexy bravura pieces and fitted gowns done in such signature fabrics as laser-cut lace, silk chiffon, silk gazar, ultra-light wool crepe, caviar-beaded silk georgette, silk organza, novelty jacquards, and mohair laces. Signature trims include custom-dyed ostrich and iridescent coq feathers, embellished and beaded laces, laser-cut guipure laces, and silk chiffon blossoms.

Perennial favorite designer LOURDES LIBMAN will present her latest lavish collection of evening couture, certain to be an impressive display of exquisite craftsmanship and innovative use of fabrics, cuts and color palette. A native of the Dominican Republic, Ms. Libman’s reputation as one of the fashion industry’s most talented designers was recently acknowledged with her inclusion in the coffee table book, I Do: 100 Years of Wedding Fashion, alongside such fashion legends as Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Betsey Johnson. She is a favorite designer of the First Lady of the Dominican Republic and has designed gowns for several Miss Universe contestants.

Couture Fashion Week® proudly presents an array of award-winning fashion designers, many well-known in their native countries. "Couture is fashion at its best," notes producer Andres Aquino. "It represents a fusion of fine art, skilled hand-tailoring and creativity. Without the limitation of mass production concerns, the fashion designer can make a true artistic statement." Among other designers showing last season was JAMIL KHANSA of Lebanon, who was named “International Fashion Designer of Year” for 2005. Mr. Khansa recently sold a couture gown for $1 million to a Middle Eastern princess. The previous award recipient was famed Russian designer HELEN YARMAK who in 2003 showed $20 million worth of furs and jewelry at the season's most lavish fashion show in New York City to an audience of top socialites and VIPs.
