September 2006, the elegance and luxury of Couture Fashion Week in New York City
will be the setting for a spectacular runway show of the latest collection by
accomplished fashion designer Bongi Gray. The fashion show is scheduled to take place at 6:00
p.m. on Wednesday, 6 September 2006 at the West Side Loft, 336 West 37th Street
(between 8th and 9th Avenues - in the heart of the Fashion District)
New York City.
Talented designer Bongi Gray has seen the fashion industry develop and now thrive in her native Swaziland. Ms. Gray's designs appeal to the woman - be she young or mature - that wishes to make a statement through her fashion choices. Versatile and flexible designs are characterized by lots of movement, contrasting textures and colors, bold accessories, and by natural fabrics as well as colorful silks, chiffons, organzas, and taffetas. The range is punctuated by frills, fringes and layers lending an Afro-centric touch to European chic. Inspiration is drawn from the natural elements of earth, fire, wind, water and light, and her love of music and the arts.
Ms. Gray has become the benchmark for other designers in Swaziland, where her clothing dominates the local market, being sold in major stores in the area. In addition to her design enterprise, Ms. Gray owns her own modeling agency. She hosts seasonal fundraisers for children's charities and her designs have been featured in South Africa's leading magazines, TV fashion channels and related websites. She has participated in many of South Africa's leading fashion events, including Nokia Cape Town Fashion Week, Face of Africa, the Vukani Awards, and MTN South Africa Fashion Week in Durban.
