Gone are the days of minimal, conformist jewelry. While the little black dress might still be a fashion stand-by, it's much less likely to be seen with a discreet gold chain than with a bold, highly individual piece like those in the new "Lucrezio's Dream" collection from Jewelry by Behnaz.

Jewelry by Behnaz will be part of the runway fashion show to be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 12:00 noon at Gallery, The Gershwin Hotel, 7 East 27^th Street, (between Madison and 5^th Avenue) on New York’s chic East Side. Jewelry designer Behnaz Beaumont, moved to the Pacific Northwest from England in 1994. She draws her creative inspiration from sources as diverse as high technology and the haute couture designs of Jean-Paul Gaulthier. Based in Washington state, Jewelry by Behnaz markets its high-quality one-of-a-kind jewelry to professional, creative women everywhere who enjoy expressing their unique personality through highly individual accessories.

The company was founded in 2001, and is a member of the Portland Fashion Incubator and the Jewelry Information Center. Specialties include unusual, bold designs using a medieval-modern fusion, semi-precious stones, and metals. The new "Lucrezio's Dream" collection features copper and glass pendants with a wealth of gemstones, including obsidian, bloodstone, garnet, jade and tourmaline. The designs reflect the growing confidence and individuality in modern women that can also be seen in the chandelier earrings and big, bold stones seen on Oscar night, as well as a yearning for the exotic romaticism of the past.
